A cabochon is a gemstone/glass (sometimes acrylic) jewellery component, quite often used to make pendants. The material (gemstone, glass or acrylic) has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. Traditional cabochons are usually oval shaped, modern cabochons comes in a variety of shapes.
